Sin City

I refuse to us terms such as ‘dark’, ‘cult’ and ‘cutting edge’ in this review

Robert Doerigeaz brings the Frank Miller comic book to the big screen. It is what is expected from the Tarantino school of film making, to follow the exploits of three main protagonists against the gritty black and white back drop of Sin city.

All the stories of course inter-twine and are often narrated by the character in his on branch, giving it the feeling of a freaky 1940’s detective drama.

Each individual story, once you cut through the special effects and the Style, cover the old tried and test themes, one good cop, one honourable crook and finally one guy in between…

The only standout from all this is the violence , it is an extremely violent and unforgiving film, this is probably in part to try and give it a more no holds barred comic feel, but I think that it is the intention to shock rather than progress the story.

Visually compelling let down by a cumbersome story and ropey delivery by some of the characters
