The Italian job
Mark Walberg stars in the remake of the classic 1960s movie. The story opens in Venice and the gang set about the task of stealing 36million in gold bullion.
The gang is not so much an all star cast as a list of well known and respected actors, including Donald Sutherland, Jason Statham, Edward Norton, Seth green and Charlie Theron.
The complex heist takes place and the of course all escape, the mentor of the group decides it is his last job and is going to hang up his swag bag.
But no they are betrayed...shocker by Norton, who hijacks all the gold and kills Sutherland.and mistakenly believes he has killed the rest of the gang.
A year passes and Walberg and his gang track down the evil Norton to his hideaway in L.A. to avenge the death of Sutherland and to get back the gold.
They need a safe cracker, and low and behold Sutherland’s daughter (Theron) has a hereditary ability to crack safes.
They hatch an overly intricate plot to get the gold back, whilst Norton makes enemies of the Russians.
Needless to say they get the gold back and Norton gets his just deserts.
After watching a very entertaining film, which has more resemblance to the Oceans Eleven than the original Italian job. The Movie has only a passing resemblance to the films namesake.
My only gripe and it is a small one is the introduction of the vengeful Russian mafia, whose sole purpose is to kill Norton and avoid the Walberg’s gang of lovable rogues turning into a hate filled gang of murderers
Entertaining brainless, only nods at the original and could have stood up on its own merit
